What is the best way to cut a cat's nails?

Before cutting a cat's nails we need to gain the cat's trust. Understand what the cat wants to do based on its body language and different reactions. If the cat is suddenly very aggressive or even arches its back and blows up its fur, it does not like it or is frightened. Approach slowly when you feel that your cat is not resistant to being scared, when your cat is relaxed or even a bit sleepy is the best time! Then gently hold the little paw and slowly press to expose the nail and it is ready for trimming.

Newly adopted adult cats are more defensive and may scratch the pet owner during the nail trimming process, so for newly adopted adult cats, it is not recommended to cut the nails yourself until you have raised and matured to gain the cat's full trust.

For small kittens, just press and cut, gently press the back of the cat's paws with your hand and the nails will automatically stick out. Please note that during the cutting process, look for the red blood line in the cat's nail, make sure you do not cut into the blood line, otherwise the cat will be in pain, just press the edge of the blood line. It is recommended to cut your cat's front paw nails first and then cut the back scratch. Your cat's front paw nails are very long and sharp, so cut the front paws first to avoid being scratched. Cats generally grow back their nails in about two to three weeks, and the frequency of trimming can be almost once every two to three weeks.

During the nail trimming process, pay attention to calming your cat down by gently stroking its back and talking to it while cutting its nails, whether it understands or not, especially when it blows up. Don't think you can quickly cut all four paws, it is difficult for cats that have not been brought up with a docile temperament to cut all four paws quickly, if they are too fussy to let someone cut their nails, you can find someone who is familiar with the cat to help.
