Stress Reactions in Cats

We often see funny videos of cats on the internet, such as jumping up because of a sudden shock, and others even walking upright. To us humans this is rather funny. But for cats this is very dangerous.

Stress is the animal's non-specific response to external harmful stimuli, mainly manifested as increased adrenaline secretion, increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, increased metabolism, etc. When a cat is stimulated by a change in the external environment, it will immediately produce a corresponding response and gradually adapt to the new environment.

 If it fails to adapt to this stimulus, it may produce abnormalities physiologically or psychologically, and may even induce disease leading to death. Stress reactions in cats are manifested as: widened eyes and aeroplane ears; back hair standing up and turning into a hedgehog; body taking on a defensive posture; increased scratching and winding behaviour; excessive hair addition, etc. 

We should note that in fact many indoor cats are very fragile inside, especially the cats we keep at work, from the moment they are brought home by us, when they are still a small kitten, they have to learn to live in an empty room by themselves for eight or nine hours, they have little contact with people and objects, and will be more sensitive emotionally, therefore cats under stress need a quiet and stable environment to slowly self Therefore, stressed cats need a quiet and stable environment to adjust themselves, and in serious cases, medical attention should be sought.
