What dogs need in terms of nutrition

Dogs need not only food, but more importantly the nutrients contained in the food, just as we humans can get the same nutrition and the same health from eating different foods. Therefore, we should not limit ourselves to the food itself, but pay more attention to the adequacy of the nutrients he eats.

 Protein

Protein is very important for all animals and without it, growth and recovery of injured tissues will be compromised. So feed your dog beef not soya! Dogs, as carnivores, digest protein differently from different feed ingredients. Dogs can digest 90% to 95% of the offal and fresh meat of most animals, while they can only digest 60% to 80% of the protein in plant-based feeds such as soya. If a dog's food contains too much indigestible plant-based protein, it can cause abdominal pain or even diarrhoea. Moreover, too much protein requires degradation by the liver and excretion by the kidneys, thus increasing the burden on the liver and kidneys.

 Fats

Fats are also vital for dogs. It is also the most important source of energy. What's more, fat stimulates the appetite of dogs, making food more to their liking, and also promotes the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. Healthy dogs digest almost 100% of fats, and even small dogs can digest them well.

 Carbohydrates

It is important to note here that milk contains high levels of lactose, which dogs cannot digest. The lactose in milk builds up in the intestines and ferments, which in turn causes diarrhoea. This condition becomes worse with age and should therefore not be fed to dogs in milk.

Fibre is also very important for dogs. It speeds up digestion and bowel movements and reduces diarrhoea or flatulence; too little fibre in the food can lead to constipation. But too much is also harmful, that can interfere with the dog's digestion.

 Minerals

Sodium and chlorine are not deficient can, because we give the dog a salt supplement on the line.

The most problematic ones are calcium and phosphorus. Calcium and phosphorus are components of the bones, so calcium and phosphorus deficiencies can produce many bone diseases, such as rickets in puppies, chondromalacia, osteoporosis in adult dogs, paralysis in postpartum bitches, etc. In a normal dog's diet, if the diet is mainly meat, phosphorus is often not deficient and calcium is deficient; if the diet is mainly plant-based, with little meat, both calcium and phosphorus are often deficient. Occasionally, a little liver can be eaten to supplement vitamin D.

 Vitamins

The role of vitamins is to promote the normal conduct of various metabolic activities in the body. Although dogs need very little vitamins, if they are excessively deficient, they can also cause certain metabolic activities not to proceed normally and make the animal sick. Although professional dog food has various vitamins added to it, a long-term diet of dog food from the loading industry does not guarantee that your dog will not be deficient in vitamins, as they are easily damaged by sunlight, heat and air humidity. Therefore, it is important to include vitamins in your dog's diet to ensure that the dog's needs are met.

    Water

Between 50% and 80% of a dog's body is made up of water. However, as dogs age, the amount of water in their bodies becomes less and less. Just because some dogs are not naturally water lovers does not mean that they do not need water, as the source of water is not just from drinking water, but is also contained in food. Even dry dog food contains around 10% water, and semi-dry dog food or canned food contains even more water. If he is not drinking water, it means that the water in his food is sufficient to meet his needs. But in any case, we should have a clean water bowl for him and the water bowl should have clean water in it for a long time so that the dog can drink freely.
