Hair care for pet dogs

Hair care is an essential step in enhancing the relationship between owner and pet, and pets do enjoy combing. However, it is important to be careful to choose the right comb for each breed of pet and to gently brush away any tangles and encourage them. This will keep your pet's coat fluffy and looking like it has just been groomed every day. So how do we do your dog's daily care at home and what areas need extra attention, here's how you can help.

The metabolic cycle of a dog's coat is about 20 days, and this cycle should be followed when bathing. Bathing too often or at too long an interval will affect the growth and quality of the hair. 

Dogs have weak alkaline skin, so choose a weak acidic bath or a mild, less irritating shampoo when bathing to avoid skin irritation and a dry coat. When bathing your pet, follow a back-to-forth, top-to-bottom sequence, starting with the anus and ending with the head, to avoid prematurely rinsing the head causing discomfort and confrontation.

Daily grooming of your pet's coat is very important, not only to reduce the formation of knots in the coat, but also to promote blood circulation to the skin and accelerate hair growth. 

For curly-coated dogs with thick curly hair that tends to knot behind the ears, underarms and neck, a steel pin comb is required for daily grooming; for soft-coated dogs with brittle and breakable hair, a wooden-handled pin comb should be used to gently comb the coat through the strength of the wrist to minimise damage to the hair; for hard-coated breeds, a scraping brush can be used to remove the underlying fluffy hair and shed dead hair, leaving only the surface layer of hard straight hair. For silky coats, use anti-static coat care products and conditioners along with grooming to avoid damage to the hair.
